In the late 90’s when MHAI acquired a replica of the national bell from the McShane Bell Foundry, the Indiana Mental Health Memorial Foundation Board of Directors desired a lasting tribute that would help people understand the meaning of the mental health bell. The President of the Foundation, Beth A. Karnes, wrote and recorded a song entitled “Ring Out Hope” for the unveiling of the Indiana Mental Health Bell. People from across the state and nation have requested the song to be used in their meetings and Karnes has been asked to sing the song at many events, including the Mental Health America annual meeting in Washington, DC.
